The doyen of Welsh egg production has received international recognition for his 78-year contribution to the global egg sector.
Welshman Aled Griffiths, 88, was named the “International Egg Person of the Year” for making a “significant contribution to the general good of the egg industry”.
Not only did he establish Oakland Farm Eggs, now one of Europe’s biggest egg processors, he has a long involvement in sector politics both in Britain and overseas.
At last week’s International Egg Commission’s (IEC) conference in Kyoto, Japan. Mr Griffiths was awarded the Denis Wellstead Memorial Trophy, named after the NFU’s former chief poultry advisor.
